Movie #26: Jackie

Movie #10: Melancholia
ITA:Ho peccato. Lo so. Lo so, ho sbagliato e me ne pento.
ENG: I've made a big mistake. I know. But this movie just didn't capture my attention...I thought it was about relationship problems ( yes, film poster gave me the wrong impression). Well, the opening left me speechless, but I still didn't get it... This situation made me think about how much I knew about Lars Von Trier...Not a lot. I've already watched Dogville (and it really impressed me) and I heard about The Antichrist controversy, so, how could I think Melancolia would be a banal movie?? I know, I was terribly wrong. I don't want to write about the plot, no, not this time. It has been ages since I watched a movie without knowing anything about it, and this is exactly how a MOVIE HAS TO BE WATCH. I just tell you that the main purpose of the movie is showing different reactions ,in front of a terrible disaster, of two kind of individual: an "healthy" and a "depressed" one. This movie will impress you, it will hurt you...with an amazing soundtrack. A masterpiece.

Movie #9: Inside - À l'interieur

ITA:
ENG:
SPOILER ALERT!
I read a lot of positive reviews before seeing this French splatter...but I found it extremely ugly. Ok, there's a lot of blood, but the plot is ridiculous.
Plot
The main character is a pregnant young woman whose husband was killed in a car crush (she was envolved in that car crush too). It's Christmas Eve night and a lady knocks to her door, asking for help. Being alone, the young woman decides not to open. Plus, the stranger shows she knows details of the protagonist's life that a "stranger" shouldn't know. The young woman calls the police, but the police (obviously!) don't find anything strange around the house. The young woman, after having swallowed a ton of sleeping pills, falls asleep. The stranger (we don't know how and when) entered the house, and now she is in front of the asleep mom-to-be. Now, we can easily understand what is her task: she wants the baby, now. With a pair of scissors, she tries to slash mom-to-be's tummy, but the pregnant woman wakes up and locks herself in the bathroom. From now on, a lot of people arrive in the house: protagonist's manager, mom and police men...but they are all killed by the stranger. Wait...What? I can accept that the crazy lady kills the manager and the mom, but seriously, how can she also kill the police men (you know, they have a gun!) with a pair of scissors and a knittingneedle?? Who is she? Superwoman? But the best has yet to come. In the end a police man becomes a zombie (WTF??) and tries to kill both the protagonist and the crazy lady...but don't worry! Our favorite villain manage to kill him too! I won't tell you the end, but guess what: the crazy lady survives! (with a burned face, but she is a survivor!)
I regret watching this movie. There's blood, but there's no good plot, there's no meaning...Wait, maybe it does have a meaning: don't trust in French police.
Movie #7: Some like it hot/ A qualcuno piace caldo

I've always liked elegant irony and funniness (and with "elegant irony" I mean the art of making people laugh without using gross words like "ass" and "fuck", and not because I'm the most classy girl of the world, but because these types of jokes don't make me laugh at all) and this movie has all this qualities. It has it all: there are gangsters, Marilyn Monroe, jazz....and tons of laughs.
PLOT
Two jazz players, Jerry and Joe, accidentally witness Saint Valentine Day's massacre. The two run for their life, but Al Capone's henchmen are looking for them. For saving their lives, Jerry and Joe become Daphne and Josephine. Marilyn Monroe plays the role of Sugar Kane, an ukulele player who wants to marry a millionaire.... A bubbly comedy, full of funny situations and with a perfect "old Hollywood" allure. If you like classic movies, don't miss it!

Movie #5: Misery
I wanted to watch a movie inspired by a Stephen King's novel. I'd already seen IT, Carrie and Shining (one of the most sensational horror movie ever), so I decided to watch Misery. Without losing time, I tell you it's not an horror movie; it's a thriller. Misery's main character is a famous writer who has a car crush but , "luckily", one of his fans finds him. There are no extremely cruel scenes (in fact it's not an horror or a splatter neither), but suspence is guaranteed. A good movie for sure, but if you want to get scared, I recommend Shining.

Movie #4: NaPolA: Hitler's Elite
"The typical movie about WWII" you are thinking. "Absolutly not" I say. If you are tired of all those movies which show "Germans" like cruel beasts and without feelings, unable to understand what they do because they are fond of Nazism, this is a movie for you. All the film is based on the friendship between Friedrich, a young and talented boxer, and Albrecht....Here, young "Germans" are not the typical fanatic bastards, but they are seen just like normal lads, victims (yeah, I said victims) of their society.
"E invece no" dico io.

Movie #3: Freaks
I love vintage/strange movie, and Freaks is both vintage and strange. Freaks is an horror movie directed by Tod Browning in 1932. The movie is setting in a circus (this makes it really exotic): Cleopatra ("normal"), a sensual trapeze artist, decide to marry Hans, a midget ("freak"), after learning of his large inheritance but, of course, she doesn't love him. So....
In the film, "freaks" are represented like good and honorable people: in fact, the real monsters are represented by "normal" people.
It's not the first movie about physical deformity I've seen (the first was The Elephant Man, a movie inspired by Joseph Merrick's life...This film is sad, but beautiful!). I didn't find Freaks scary and shocking at all: I think this movie is a cult indeed!
Movie #2: A. I. Artificial Intelligence
A High- Tech fairy tale. Can robots have feelings? Spielberg thinks so. This movie is gorgeous...maybe it's long (2 hours more or less), but it's pure poetry. The journey of David shows all human vices: selfishness, cruelty (Flesh Fair it's an example)...but also compassion, love and altruism. Kubrick (who should have been the film director, but he died before starting filming) called A.I. "a picaresque robot version of Pinocchio" (Have you ever read The Adventures of Pinocchio by Collodi? When I was a little girl I was in love with this novel!). If you haven't watched this yet, you should!
Una fiaba High- Tech. Possono i robots avere sentimenti?
Movie #1: Atonement
Atonement is a 2007 movie directed by Joe Wright. I watched this movie almost 5 times. Maybe because Keira Knightley is one of my favorite actresses, maybe because I love drama...
1935. Britain. Briony is a 13 years old girl from a wealthy family and she has a great imagination. Her sister, Cecilia falls in love with Robbie, a servant's son. Briany has a crush on him. Robbie writes some drafts of letters to Cecilia, including one which is erotically charged. He doesn't intend to send it and sets it aside. Robbie asks Briony to deliver his letter to Cecilia, only to later realise that he has given her the "wrong" draft. Briony secretly reads the letter and is both disgusted and jealous.
That evening, Cecilia and Robbie meet in the library, where they make love and confess their love for one another. Briony watches through the partially open door. At dinner it is revealed that the twin cousins have run away. Briony goes alone into the woods looking for them and she sees a man running away. Then, she finds her young cousin Lola, alone in the dark. Someone raped her. Lola claims that she does not know the identity of her attacker, but Briony tells everyone, including the police, that she saw Robbie commit the act. Everyone believes her story except for Cecilia. Robbie is arrested and sent to prison. And here start the "atonement" of both Briony and Robbie...
I cry everytime I watch it.Uff, I'm too romantic, I know.
